Working with only the very best nurses, we can guarantee that our clients will receive the highest standard of care, in advance and on the day of delivery

LifeCells Phlebotomists

Quality of service and your comfort are our top priorities. In order to help us consistently achieve these priorities we have partnered with Wren Healthcare, a leading national healthcare provider who deliver top-quality nurses and clinicians for our clients. Wren are a CQC-regulated, UK-registered healthcare provider founded by clinical nurse specialists, providing bespoke nursing solutions to clients across the country. By partnering with highly-trained specialist nurses we can guarantee that our clients receive the highest standard of care, throughout their LifeCells journey.

At LifeCells we are very proud of our robust collection and processing protocols, and the skills and experience of our partner nurses is central to these being carried out successfully for each and every one of our clients. Your nurse will be a trained phlebotomist (blood specialist), with extensive clinical experience, meaning that they will be able to perform the collection of your baby’s cord blood and cord tissue in a safe and efficient manner. But they will play a bigger role in your LifeCells journey than just that.

When you first register with LifeCells, we will put you in contact with your own Wren partner nurse. This is the person who will be coordinating the collection of your baby’s stem cells after delivery. At this initial stage they will liaise with your clinical team at your chosen maternity hospital to ensure everything is in place for the big day.

When you go into labour you will meet your partner nurse at the hospital. You will contact them once you’re in labour and will bring your LifeCells Collection kit to the hospital, as your partner nurse will need it to perform the collection.

Following the birth of your baby and the delivery of the placenta, your partner nurse will use the collection kit the cord blood, cord tissue, and a sample of maternal blood. This process is quick and clean, taking between 20 and 30 minutes, and will occur in a separate room from where you gave birth.

Once it is completed, your nurse will secure the samples in the medical-grade CREDO Cube packaging ready for courier collection. Once all of this is completed, the nurse will liaise with courier, ensuring that the package is collected within hours of delivery.

The entire LifeCells process has been designed to minimise stress for you, your family and your baby while also ensuring the stem cells in your newborn’s cord blood and cord tissue are collected and transported cleanly and quickly. By working with experienced and highly-trained phlebotomists provided by our partners at Wren, we can guarantee that our collection process is carried out successfully every time, so you know that you and your family are receiving the best service possible.
